How has time flown?
It feels like just yesterday I shared the news with you all—I was expecting my first child! After years of capturing so many beautiful children through my lens, it was finally my turn. And now, somehow, she is a whole four years old!
As a photographer, I always imagined I’d be documenting every little moment of my own children’s lives, just as I do for my clients. But between running a full-time photography business and navigating motherhood, let’s just say it has been a juggle! I had all these grand plans for regular milestone sessions, but, like many parents, life got in the way.
Still, we made it happen last year, and we made it happen again this year—so, yay, go us!
This session was extra special because my little girl, who I lovingly call Little Mama, was truly excited. It was more than just a photoshoot; it became a part of her birthday countdown. The moment she walked into the studio, eyes wide at the sight of the balloons and the big number four, she gasped in pure wonder. “Does this mean I’m going to be four?” she asked in disbelief. She had been asking me every day since mid-January, “Am I four yet?” so it was magical to see her realise that the moment had finally arrived.
This experience reminded me why I do what I do. Life moves fast. The days are long, but the years? They fly. One day, they’re tiny newborns in our arms, and before we know it, they’re beaming at a number four balloon, ready to take on the world.
This is why I encourage all parents to capture these moments—not just for the sake of beautiful pictures, but for the memories they hold. These sessions become part of our children’s stories, little time capsules they’ll one day look back on with wonder.
So, to all the parents out there feeling the same whirlwind of emotions—whether your little one is turning one, four, or fourteen—don’t wait. Let’s freeze time together, even if just for a moment.
Here are some of the sweet memories we captured. I hope they remind you to cherish every fleeting season of childhood.
